Hello everyone! Are you excited about entering 2016? I hope 2015 had been a good year for you.

My goal in the new year is to try to tackle things more quickly. Let’s see how that goes… but while on the subject of tackling tasks quickly, I am happy to say that I have finished my Ondawa sweater in a month and a half!

This pattern seems very popular and has been made/blogged about many times. It is by Michele Wang for Brooklyn Tweed, and her patterns are always very challenging and interesting to knit.

The front, the back and the sleeves are knitted separately, blocked then connected together as per the instructions. This was a first for me as I usually leave blocking as the last step, but I think it is a great way to control the size this way, since it is easier to shape the pieces when they are flat and not connected together.

The neckline is quite wide, and is honestly not something I am used to wearing, since it slips off the shoulder so easily. It is wide across the body as well!

But I like it a lot!! It is very different from the other knits I own and the style is a bit out of my comfort zone, but because of that I am so excited to wear it, and I also enjoyed the challenge of making it.

I used Cascade 220 Heathers yarns for this project.

I copied the styling on the pattern page, layering it with happen but  a collared shirt.  It may never happen but I am dreaming about sewing a shirt to wear with it:-)

Thank you for reading my blog in 2015!

I wish you a 2016 filled with happiness and hopefully some sewing and knitting:-)

  1. What an intricate pattern! Bravo for knitting it in just a month and a half. The style is just perfect for you. Happy sewing and knitting in 2016!

    1. Thank you, Hélène:-) I think the urge to finish this sweater before the new year propelled my knitting speed! Thank you always for your thoughtful and kind comments. I wish you a very happy 2016!

  2. This is beautiful and I can’t believe it took you only 6 weeks! The neckline is indeed wide – can you narrow it a little by seaming it up a bit more at the shoulders if it annoys you?

  3. I am already on my second Ondawa, in a different colour. Thank you for sharing. It is indeed very beautiful.
